Synopsis
Massimo is forty, with an acting past he cannot shake off. Five years ago he left the set, cinema and Marta, convinced that telling invented stories is pointless.
A favour asked by his flatmate Roberto takes him back where he swore he would never return: a film bookshop, a former adult cinema, a festival collapsing on itself, an underground film rave. With a flamboyant bookseller and a rediscovered Marta, Massimo investigates who is sabotaging the festival with fragments of films signed by one Ermes Marana. How it ends, of course, is not what you think.
Production notes
The first film by Gold Productions, born together with the company. We wrote, produced and financed it ourselves: Marco Tajani wrote the screenplay and acts in the film, Omar Rashid directed it.
Marana’s films are six standalone segments, each devoted to a craft of filmmaking. We did not want to make them alone: we entrusted them to different directors and companies, from I Licaoni to Berta Film. A film about cinema as a collective art had to be one in the way it was made.
Shot in Florence from 21 September to 3 October 2026 with a small crew and an independent production model. The film is now in the edit. To complete it and bring it to cinemas, we have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Produzioni dal Basso.
