The Italian Baba
2020 · 20'A journey to India in search of a guru, through the words of Folco Terzani and the voice of Elio Germano.
Synopsis
Across India’s landscapes, following Baba Cesare, an Italian who became an ascetic, the viewer travels both inward and outward. The text is taken from Folco Terzani’s A piedi nudi sulla terra, read by Elio Germano.
Production notes
Gold’s first encounter with the Terzanis’ thought, taken up again years later in L’unica rivoluzione che serve. Omar Rashid shot the film in India, Elio Germano co-directed and gave it his voice. Here virtual reality lets you see those places with your own eyes and, at the same time, through someone else’s.
